This topic is surprising common among people that uses movers. In fact there are several articles and blogs talking about such topic.

Let me give you a simple answer.

$20 per person for local moves. Anything more is considered a good tip.

Remember TIPS stand for "To insure prompt service".

I don't know what motivates people to from moving between Spring till late Summer/early Fall. For the most part it's because kids are off from school during summer and it's easier to manage the move. Or maybe people don't like to move during winter because it's too cold.

Needless to say we are certainly not complaining.

With all the experience we have in serving the Austin market, we are getting so many referrals that we've began contemplating some referral programs.

Drop us a comment if you have any suggestions.

Ahhh tax season. How we all love this time of year. Well maybe some people do. For the most of us tax time isn't the most exciting time of the year.

Especially if you have just moved into, say a new city or state. In addition to taxes you have the stress of packing, moving, unpacking, coordinating furnitures for decor etc.

Well you may be delighted to learn that the Federal Government does offer a "reasonable" tax deduction for moving expenses. To qualify you must move at least 50 miles from your employer or last residence because of a new job, or starting a new company. This includes moving costs, air fare, lodging etc. Keep in mind, however, that meals are excluded.

Another condition is that you must work at your new location for 39 weeks during the next 12 months.

Check out the IRS website for more details.

And remember, we are a FULL moving service located in Austin!

So you've finished unpacking all the stuff that you just packed. Congratulations. Now you get to put all of the unpacked goods in its new place (exciting right!).

But what do you do with your used boxes? Well, why not sell them? But where?

Well, I guess you can try posting them on Craigslist.

If you have just moved into the Austin/San Antonio area, you can sell it to EcoBox. With several locations right here in the Austin area, you can choose to drop them off at a particular location or fill out a form to have your used boxes picked up. All you have to do flatten the boxes. If they are standard size boxes they will accept them even with tapes, labels and writing on them (But they have unacceptable boxes so be sure to check with them!).

How easy.

But you can always choose to use a full service Austin moving company like us too!
